Have you got what it takes to go from nothing to a finished short film in 48 hours?
For the past 8 years, the Calgary Underground Film Festival has organized one of the best filmmaking exercises in the city: The 48-hour Movie Making Challenge. Teams are given a random genre, prop and line of dialogue on Friday at 7pm, and they have to turn in a 2-5 minute short film using those elements 48 hours later.
The Challenge is a fantastic experience. It forces you to be creative under pressure (how all great ideas are born), puts you in unique and unforgettable situations, and provides countless opportunities to learn new things…like how your heart feels after 7 energy drinks.
Revengeance is a short film created as part of the Calgary Underground Film Festival‘s 48-Hour Filmmaking Challenge. The Full Swing team had only 2 days to write, shoot, edit, and deliver the finished product.
Written by Scott Westby and directed by Matt Watterworth, Revengeance is an absurdist comedy starring Samantha McNaughton, Tyler Provincial, and Amanda Zotek.
Back in July, Scott was interviewed for the HI -FIVE series in FREQ Magazine, where he discussed the nature of the Calgary video production industry and how to balance Creative and Corporate Video Production.

We’re very pleased to announce that we’ve been selected as one of four teams for the NSI Features First program, described as a development training launch pad for Canadian Producers and Screenwriters.
Our application with Scott’s feature screenplay Synapse marks the first time in 16 years a Calgary team has been selected, and the second Calgary team ever in the program, since our friend and mentor Jason Long participated with his feature film Turning Paige.
