Join Full Swing at the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo

Posted by:

Nerds unite! The time is drawing near for the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo. Every year, we’re honoured to speak on a panel or two about filmmaking and new media. This year, however, Matt and Scott will be on four panels throughout the weekend. We invite everyone who wants to pick our brains to join us! Here’s the schedule, still marked as “tentative”:

Friday April 25 @ 3:30pm – How to Make Your Movie

Located in the Quarter Horse room in the BMO Centre

Matt, Scott and our dear friend Jason Mehmel will be chatting all things Producing. We’ll be dropping a ton of knowledge we’ve picked up so far at the NSI Features First program, and chatting about the realities of getting a script on the screen.

Saturday April 26 @ 1:30 – How to Make a Web Series

Located in the Quarter Horse room in the BMO Centre

We’ve been creating Web Series of all shapes, sizes and budgets since 2010, and we’d love to help inspire more Calgary-based web content! We’ll chat about tech stuff, keeping a distracted web audience engaged, monetization, and anything else you may be wondering. We may use words like “Internets” and “The YouTubes”, but we won’t use words like “webtertainment”…we promise.

Sunday April 27 @ 12:30 – Kickstart your Crowdfunding Campaign

Located in Palomino Room H

Ever thought about using crowdfunding to finance your dream project? Of course you have. Unfortunately the majority of crowdfunding projects fail to reach their goal. And those failed projects can even do harm to your reputation, relationships and future growth! That may seem extreme, but there are some serious realities to consider before you reach into the seemingly endless well of “internet monies”.

Matt and Scott have years of experience with Social Media, Marketing Campaigns and Crowdfunding campaigns (we actually do videos for them and consult on crowdfunding campaigns). Come pick our brains and boost your chances of success to get your project going.

Sunday April 27 @ 1:30 – How to Grow Your Fanbase

Located in Palomino Room H

Hot on the heels of our Crowdfunding Panel is the relevant and equally-important discussion about growing an online fanbase and creating brand ambassadors. We’ll probably invite Crowdfunders to stay for this one, as we’ll be diving into more details about engaging an audience online, do’s and don’ts of Social Media, and how to turn an online “connection” into a real human relationship.

We hope to see you there!
