We’re very pleased to announce that we’ve been selected as one of four teams for the NSI Features First program, described as a development training launch pad for Canadian Producers and Screenwriters.

Our application with Scott’s feature screenplay Synapse marks the first time in 16 years a Calgary team has been selected, and the second Calgary team ever in the program, since our friend and mentor Jason Long participated with his feature film Turning Paige.

Such a rare opportunity is extremely exciting for us, and we look forward to representing Calgary on this national level.

Since the course was launched in 1997, 15 features have been produced. Films developed through NSI Features First include I Declare WarEvery Emotion Costs7 Times LuckyTurning Paige and Inertia.

Our program begins with a week-long trip to Toronto in March. We’ll be sharing our experience and learnings  through the process, so join us on Twitter and Facebook if you want to follow along.

The program is presented by the National Screen Institute and Telefilm Canada, with sponsorship and bursaries from Shaw Media, eOne Entertainment, the Brian Linehan Charitable Foundation, Zoomer Media and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television.
